Frequently Asked Questions

Confused about whether an urgent care center is the right option? Wondering what types of procedures we can perform at Express Med? Browse our frequently asked questions for the answers you’re looking for:

Do I need urgent care or an emergency room?

Urgent care is here for any non-life-threatening injuries or illnesses. Our center is designed to treat patients who need attention but don’t require a visit to the emergency room. If you are experiencing a life-threatening condition, call 911 and seek emergency care.

Below are examples of situations in which you should call 911 and seek emergency room care:

  1. Chest pain
  2. Difficulty breathing
  3. Severe bleeding
  4. Unconsciousness
  5. Poisoning
  6. Moderate or severe burns

Why should I seek an urgent care center instead of my primary care physician?

For peace of mind. When the condition can’t wait until tomorrow morning or there are no appointments available at your primary care office, an urgent care physician can see you and help you start healing sooner. Urgent care is not for the management of chronic conditions or long-term care but for conditions requiring immediate attention. When you can’t miss any days of work, but your doctor can’t see you until tomorrow, come to Express Med to ensure you will be seen on your schedule.

Do I need an appointment?

We see patients on a walk-in basis and by appointment. To make an appointment, please call our office at 610-994-006.

How long will my visit take?

Our goal is to get you in, treated, and on your way in less than 30 minutes (depending on services needed).

Do I need a referral?

You do not need a referral to be seen by one of our physicians, as we are an urgent care facility. However, if your insurance is not listed under our accepted insurances, please contact your insurance carrier to confirm eligibility.

Will my primary care physician know about my visit?

If you would like us to, Express Med wants to work in partnership with your primary care physician to provide you and your family with the best care possible. To meet that goal, we will fax all relevant materials to your primary care physician and make recommendations for appropriate follow up with them.

What is your payment policy?

Your co-pay must be paid before being seen by a doctor. We accept all major credit cards, as well as cash and personal checks with proper ID. Our goal is to have the fewest obstacles between you and the care you need.

What insurance do you accept?

We proudly accept most major insurance. See our Insurance section for a full list of insurance carriers we accept.

What if I don’t have insurance or my insurance is not accepted?

Not a problem. A visit to Express Med is $135, not including additional diagnostic services, procedures, or x-rays. The cost of service must be paid prior to service being given.

What about follow-up care?

Express Med follows up with patients within 1-3 days of their visit to ensure they are feeling better. If you would like us to, we will also forward your medical records and any test results to your primary care physician to allow them to continue treating you appropriately.
